On 30th March, at the Head of State’s Office, Church-State relations in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea were reviewed. This took place via an audience that the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, granted to the president of the National Episcopal Conference and Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Malabo, Juan Nsue Edjang Meye.
The last meeting between these two figures was on 26th July last year. Also in 2016, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo led the Equatoguinean Christian community on a pilgrimage to St. Paul’s Basilica in the Vatican.
On this occasion, Nsue Edjang Meye was accompanied by the Bishop of the Diocese of Bata, Juan Matogo Oyana. The functioning of ecclesiastic and state institutions occupied the main topic of conversation at the audience.
