On 30th May, the President of the Senate, Teresa Efua Asangono, granted an audience to the accredited Head of Business from the Portuguese Embassy in Malabo, to strengthen cooperation within the framework of the promotion and diffusion of the Portuguese language in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, as a member of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).
The audience served as a platform to review the matters covered during the meeting of the CPLP Network of Parliamentary Women, which recently took place in Sipopo, and also allowed Efua Asangono and the head of diplomatic missions from Portugal, Manuel Graciado Vale, to look at the promotion and diffusion of the Portuguese language, and the implementation of Portuguese courses at the UNGE.
The two figures spoke of the need to create a cultural centre for the Portuguese language on the university campus.
Manuel Graciado Vale praised the work of the senators, adding that Equatorial Guinea is a member of the CPLP, and for that reason there are parliamentary dealings between the parliaments and the CPLP.
