President of Senate holds audience with Resident UN Coordinator

The concern for the devastation caused by HIV-AIDS was the reason for the meeting held on 16th April between the President of the Senate, Teresa Efua Asangono, and the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations (UN) Mady Biaye, accompanied by the head of UNAIDS in Equatorial Guinea, Jeanne Seck.

During the conversation, Efua Asangono and Mady Biaye expressed their concern regarding the problems caused by HIV-AIDS in the world, and in particular in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. The two figures believe it is necessary to set up cooperation between the United Nations System, the Government and the Parliament, in order to work together for the benefit of the health of the population through an awareness-raising campaign in order to change behaviour, habits and customs, and prevent the spread of HIV.
