President of Senate holds meeting with CPLP-Equatorial Guinea National Group

The President of the Senate, Teresa Efua Asangono, met on 31st October with members of the National Group from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries in the Senate, in order to improve coordination of the working agenda they are called on to implement within the framework of the proposed aims.

Considering that the CPLP working programme for the 2019-2020 period included the Republic of Equatorial Guinea hosting the presidency of commission number 1, charged with strategic policy, legislation, citizenship and free circulation, whilst the secretary of commission number 3 is charged with language, education, science and culture, the President of the Senate thought it opportune to hold a coordination session for these activities with members of the National Group in order to invigorate the tasks assigned to the various commissions.

Taking into account the involvement of the country in the current CPLP two-year programme , the leader of the Upper Chamber gave the corresponding instructions to the national group for maximum efficiency.

Other questions of significance were also covered by those attending in order to raise the image of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea in the Community Parliamentary Assembly. Efua Asangono recommended to those at the meeting to keep the Table of the Upper Chamber informed of all pending matters to be dealt with by the assembly, whilst agreeing to hold another meeting next Tuesday with members of this parliamentary structure of the Chamber of Deputies in order to reach agreement on the tasks.
