On 2nd April, the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, received his counterpart from South Africa, H. E. Cyril Ramaphosa and the delegation from this country in the south of the African continent, who are in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea on a working visit.

The South African President was received with flowers on arrival at the People’s Palace in Malabo, and with greetings from the court of honour made up of members of the Government, the presidents of constitutional bodies and local authorities.

The playing of the national anthems and corresponding honours were followed by an inspection of the land, sea and air forces, and greetings between members of the two official delegations.

In side the palace, the two African leaders held a brief exchange of impressions in the Ambassadors’ Hall, while the Foreign Ministers from Equatorial Guinea and South Africa, Simeon Oyono Esono and Lindiwe Sisulu, respectively, spoke about the good bilateral relations, under the watchful eyes of their two respective Heads of State.

With a photograph to immortalise the first presidential visit to our country in 2019, they then went to the Banqueting Hall in the palace, where H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo offered lunch to the entourage from the Republic of South Africa.

H. E. Cyril Ramaphosa assumed the presidency of his country in 2017, and this visit is his first visit to Equatoguinean territory.

Before concluding his visit, the South African President signed the Head of State’s Visitors’ Book, and was seen off by his counterpart with the corresponding military honours.
