Several world leaders were in Ankara, for the solemn investiture ceremony for the re-elected President, H. E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The ceremony began at 19:00 on 9th July, and was attended by over thirty delegations, some led by their Heads of State. Representatives from international and local bodies also took part in the event.
Africa as represented by 17 delegations, including the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, led by the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, accompanied by the Ministers of State Charged with Missions, Alejandro Evuna Owono Asangono; Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Simeon Oyono Esono, and Juan Antonio Bibang Nchuchuma, from External Security, together with director generals from various departments of the Head of State’s Office.
Located between two continents -Asia and Europe-, the Republic of Turkey held early presidential elections on 24th June, resulting in a win for H. E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with52.59% of the vote.
At the ceremony on Monday, H. E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan assumed his second five year mandate as head of the country, and gave a speech on his policy guidelines.
Cooperation and bilateral relations with the Republic of Equatorial Guinea is optimum, as shown by the exchange of visits by senior delegations from both countries: Erdogan in November 2014, during the II Turkey-Africa Summit, and H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo with his current visit to Ankara.
After the investiture ceremony, the Turkish presidential couple provided supper for those present.
At around three in the morning of Tuesday 10th, the Equatoguinean delegation arrives at the presidential terminal in Malabo, having concluded the day’s work in just over 24 hours on Turkish soil.
