The President of the Republic and Founder of the PDGE oversaw, on 25th October in Bata, the plenary meeting of the presidents of the monitoring commissions from his political grouping and candidates for senators, deputies and councillors for the town halls in the continental region. The political meeting, aimed at setting out the final preparations for the 2017 electoral campaign, took place in the Palace of International Conferences in Ngolo.
On arrival, the President Founder was received by the Vice-President of the PDGE, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, and the General Secretary, Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro, while those called to the meeting greeted him with applause.
The first speaker was Jeronimo Osa Osa, followed by the President Founder, who invited those present to maintain civil behaviour during the campaign, which begins on Friday 27th October.
The President did not appear here as a candidate or as president, but as leader of the PDGE, according to Agustin Nze Mfumu, party spokesman.
During his declarations to the press he also recalled that, on the eve of the campaign, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo advised candidates and the campaign commissions to show exemplary behaviour during the campaign period, and to strengthen the desire of the grouping to continue to make national policy.
During the meeting, the President insisted on the solidarity of the militants. “The PDGE party believes it can speak publicly through the images of everything it has done, and what it has been able to do for the transformation and progress of the nation. This spirit should continue to encourage all candidates and monitoring commissions during the campaign”, said the PDGE spokesman.
The President Founder invited everyone not to allow anything to disrupt the campaign, as happens in other parts of the world. H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has placed his trust in the Equatoguinean citizen, whom he described as peaceful and brilliant in his public spirit.
Furthermore, he advised the militancy not to succumb to provocation, and run a campaign, as on other occasions, in order to obtain a clean dignified victory for the people of Equatorial Guinea, which have always been a peace-loving people, concluded Agustin Nze Nfumu.
