The President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, granted two separate audiences on 18th July, at the People’s Palace in Malabo.
Susan Stevenson, accredited Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Ambassador from the United States to Equatorial Guinea, was the first figure received by the Head of State, with whom she spoke about the various visits made to several places in the nation.
H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Susan Stevenson also covered aspects regarding diplomatic relations uniting the Malabo and Washington administrations. This reception was the first audience that the diplomat has had with the Equatoguinean leader, after presenting her credentials as ambassador on 11th April.
Susan Stevenson is the second woman to hold the responsibility of United States ambassador, replacing her predecessor, Julie Furuta Toy. her appointment was approved on 1st January 2019.
Moments later, the President received a delegation form the Kingdom of Eswatini (Swaziland), led by the Commissioner from the King’s Office, Ngwagwa Gemedze, and made up of Khandleda Mdluli, director of protocol from the royal house, and Promise Nsibi, Ambassador before the African Union.
The entourage was the bearer of a written message, the content of which was not revealed. H. M. Mswati III sent congratulations to the President of the Republic to mark 3rd August, 40th Anniversary of the Freedom Coup, according to the special envoy from the royal house.
During the two audiences, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bonifacio Mitoha Bindang, and the Director General for Translations at the head of State’s Office, accompanied H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
