On 19th March, the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, met members of the National Summits and Conferences Organising Committee. The meetings took place at the People’s Palace in Malabo.
The coordinators from the various sub commissions make up this commission which made provisions for the two upcoming events to be held in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea: the presentation of the Equatorial Guinea-Unesco Awards for Life Science Research, in its IV edition, and the I Conference on Mental Health.
The President of the Republic and those present spoke about arrival dates for those attending, including several presidents from friendly countries, scientists from the sectors of medicine, technicians and experts from Unesco, and its director general.
The leader of the nation gave advice to each of the coordinators on the necessary provisions for the success of these two international events.
The Unesco-Equatorial Guinea International Award was created in 2008, and is wholly financed through the Obiang Nguema Mbasogo Foundation and the organisation of the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Cooperation with Unesco, and aims to reward projects and activities by individuals, institutions and other bodies, and NGOs dedicated to scientific research in life sciences.
Its IV edition will take place this year in our country, and the winners this time are an agricultural research organisation, and two scientists, from Portugal and Brazil.
