on 21st February, Luba was the second provincial capital in this island area to receive the presidential couple on their State tour of all national territory.
Provincial, district and municipal authorities made up the court of honour that received H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Constancia Mangue de Obiang, together with the many people that gathered from all the districts and municipalities of Luba.
The Mayoress, Adelaida Lobede Waba; the PDGE district president, Manuel SaAaba Silochi, and the provincial governor, Juan Ela Nguema, were the first speakers at the event, which was also attended by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Gaudencio Mohaba Mesu, the Chief and Deputy General Secretaries of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea, Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro and Jesusa Obono Engono Nchama, and members and director generals from the various departments of the Head of State’s Office.
The mayoress, the leader of the governing party, and the chief provincial authority wished the presidential couple well for the new year 2019, and congratulated them on the successful celebration of the 50th Anniversary of National Independence. In their speeches they also condemned the failed attempt at destabilisation in the country on 24th December 2017, and also recognised the success of the Government’s diplomatic policies with the assignation of important responsibilities to the head of State.
Boasting of the usual saying that “Luba has a party when visited by the presidential couple”, its authorities presented the Equatoguinean leader and his wife with gifts.
The President of the Republic, in his words of advice, spoke of the importance of keeping the peace in order to allow the country and Luba in particular to develop, and to be able to organise this type of event.
He also congratulated those gathered for the 50 years of independence that the Republic of Equatorial Guinea has just commemorated, with the involvement of the entire population, demonstrating a maturity and high organisational capacity.
H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo also appealed to the consciences of everyone to work in order to put an end to delinquency in society.
Acclaimed and applauded at all times by the people gathered, the Founder of the democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea, in another part of his speech, criticised the treacherous, violent behaviour of some political leaders, who from abroad damage the image of the country and the Government.
The event concluded with traditional dances and “baleles” that entertained the event.
