On Friday 15th September, the presidential couple, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and Constancia Mangue de Obiang, attended the funeral rites for Brigadier General Cayo Ondo Mba Angue, who passed away on 7th September. The general held the post of Director General for Retired and Crippled Personnel at the Ministry of National Defence.
In the presence of family, friends, military colleagues, and senior figures such as the Vice-President of the Republic, Charged with Defence and State Security, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, the posthumous ceremony began with the placing of the flag, and was followed by the offering of wreaths, a reading of his biography, and messages of condolences from the ministers for Defence and Security, who recognised the work carried out by the deceased in favour of the armed forces.
Then the Head of State, as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, praised the work of the general, and invited others in the military to follow his example.
Cayo Ondo Mba Angue was from Mbong Obuk, in the district of Mongomo. He was born on 2nd January 1949, and held various posts, including Director General of National Security, and Inspector General of the Armed Forces in the continental part.
