The Head of State and of the Government, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and First Lady, Constancia Mangue de Obiang, went to the Cathedral in Malabo, as guests of honour at the service for the wedding between the Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Equatorial Guinea Ambassador in Washington, Miguel Ntutumu Evuna Andeme and Purificacion Ekiri.
The solemn celebration, which coincided with the feast of the Virgin of Fatima, brought together political figures, family members, including the father of the groom, Alejandro Evuna Owono Asangono, Minister of State at the Presidency of the Republic, Charged with Missions, and friends and acquaintances of the couple, with Malabo Cathedral providing the main setting.
The mass was said by various priests, who underlined that to marry in the church is to set out on a road of holiness, in shared faith and listening to the word of God, together with taking care of the other person.
On leaving the church, the newly-weds received congratulations and displays of affection from the crowds surrounding them on the cathedral esplanade.
