The Republic of Equatorial Guinea is now chairing the United Nations Security Council, and the delegation led by the presidential couple, which went to New York on 4th February, returned on the 5th to Malabo.
Heads from the ministries of national Defence and State Security, together with advisers to the Presidency of the Republic, gave a warm welcome to H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Constancia Mangue de Obiang.
The phenomenon of mercenary activities, terrorism and piracy were points of attention for member countries of the organisation, during the meeting overseen by the Equatoguinean Head of State.
During the stay by the delegation from Malabo, made up of various members of the Government and director generals from the head of State’s Office, the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, apart from assuming the acting presidency of the United Nations Security Council, granted various audiences to emissaries from countries with which the Republic of Equatorial Guinea has diplomatic relations, together with the UN directorate, led by Antonio Guterres, the General Secretary.
In 2018, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea was elected, together with other nations, as non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
