Presidential trip to Cape Verde

On 15th April, the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, began a trip to the Republic of Cape Verde, on the invitation of his counterpart, H. E. Jorge Carlos Fonseca.

At Malabo airport Members of the Government, chiefs from the sector of Defence and Security, led by the Minister of State for national Security, Nicolas Obama Nchama, and several advisers to the Presidency of the Republic, were there to bid farewell to the head of State.

The official visit by the President to Praia, the capital of Cape Verde, on the invitation of the Cape Verde President and current President of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), highlights the excellent state of bilateral relations between Cape Verde and Equatorial Guinea, two member nations of the CPLP and the ACP (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific) Group.

The last visit by H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo to Cape Verde, in July 2018, was to attend the 22nd Summit of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries, of which the African nation holds the presidency until 2020.

This is the fifth trip made by H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo in 2019, after those made to Rwanda, the United States, Ethiopia and Congo Brazzaville.
