President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and the First Lady, Constancia Mangue de Obiang, began a visit to the Republic of Mozambique on Wednesday 5th April. The Head of State had a meeting with his counterpart, H. E. Filipe Jacinto Nyussi.

At the International Airport in Maputo, the capital, the presidential entourage was received by the Minister for Foreign Business and Cooperation, together with some members of the Government and Equatoguinean authorities. The reception ceremony was entertained by traditional dancing.

Once in the Presidential Palace, the leader of the nations was received with military honours, and then held a private meeting with his counterpart, H. E. Filipe Jacinto Nyussi.

As stipulated in the schedule for the State visit, the two delegations held a bilateral meeting led by their respective leaders, and signed three agreements to consolidate diplomatic relations: the Agreement on Scientific, Technical, Cultural and Economic Exchange; the Agreement on a Memorandum for Diplomatic Exchanges, and another through which Equatorial Guinea and Mozambique wish to boost economic consultation.

These intentions were formalised with the signatures of the ministers for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation from the two nations. To close the first working day, the Equatoguinean presidential couple attended a State supper offered to the entourage by H. E. Filipe Jacinto Nyussi and his wife. At the supper, both leaders gave separate speeches.
