The President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, made his first trip abroad this year on 23rd January, when he visited Abuja, capital of the federal Republic of Nigeria. He was received by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Geoffrey Anyama, accompanied by the Territorial Minister for Abuja.
The members of the diplomatic headquarters, led by the Extraordinary Plenipotentiary Ambassador, Job Obiang Esono Ayingono, was also present at the reception.
Military honours featured during the arrival, which culminated in the Presidential Palace, where H. E. Muhamadou Buhari received his counterpart and entourage.
At the meeting the two leaders covered matters such as Boko Haram terrorism, piracy in the region of the Gulf of Guinea, and the investment by businessmen from the two countries for common development.
The President of the Republic offered a press conference before being seen off by his counterpart with the corresponding honours.
