The Minister of State for the Government Presidency for the Prevention and Fight against HIV-AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Tomas Mecheba Fernandez Galilea, accompanied by the Director of his Cabinet and Director General, Ambrosio Jose Monsuy, traveled to the mainland to continue the work of the tour to raise awareness in the fight against HIV and other sexual and communicable diseases.
After the official opening of the awareness campaign on the mainland, on Thursday, May 22, the committee chaired by Mecheba Fernandez visited the schools INES Padre Sialo; INES Carlos Luwanga; Ecos del Futuro; Bisila and SOS Aldeas Infantiles, among others.
The Minister addressed the students to make them see the importance of using a condom, good use of the razor, toothbrush, manicure material and hairdressing machines. He also referred to the blood-borne transmission from mother to child.
Following these recommendations, the member of the Government and head of the sector, invited all the youths to perform the special HIV testing, which should always be done with the person’s consent.
The event ended with the miscellaneous affairs section, where students asked a number of questions related to the subject.
