The commission, created through Order of the Presidency of the Government on 16th March, which designates the members to organise the celebration of 12th October 2018, the 50th Anniversary of National Independence, gathered for a meeting held at the Ministry for Finance, the Economy and Planning.

The session was attended by the heads of the ten sub-commissions making it up, including general coordination, overseen by the Prime Minister; Memorandum Drafting; Cleaning and Improvement; Transport and Movement, and Information and Propaganda.

This meeting is the first to be held since the creation of the large organising commission, made up of governors, Government delegates and mayors from the insular part of the country, in addition to some members of the Government and presidential advisers.
