Reception at Chinese Embassy for Spring Festival 2018

On Thursday 8th February, the Ambassador from the People’s Republic of China in Malabo, organised a celebration to mark the Spring Festival at the Hotel Anda. At the same time, the Ambassador Chen Gouyou informed guests that in 2017 the GDP in China surpassed 80 million Yuan, with a growth of 6.9%, placing the Asian giant among the main world economies, where it has contributed 30% to the increase in the global economy.

The act was also attended by important figures, such as the General Secretary of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE), Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro, and his Deputy, Jesusa Obono Engono, together with other members of the Government and the Chinese colony resident in Malabo.

The Chinese Ambassador, in his speech, recalled that 2017 had been an unforgettable year for his country, as they had achieved the success of the XIX Communist Party of China (CPC) Congress, where the development plan for the People’s Republic of China was determined. In addition, Chen Gouyou reported that relations between China and Equatorial Guinea are progressing well through the mutual trust between the two countries.

During the meeting the trip by the Chinese Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Zhang Ming, was highlighted, together with the official visit by the Vice-President of the Republic, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, during 2017, in addition to the presence of Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro at the CPC Senior Level Dialogue with global political parties.

Before concluding his speech, the Asian Ambassador reaffirmed that 2018 would be the start of the implementation of decisions from the XIX CPC National Congress.
