The headquarters of the United Nations Organisation held the Summit of Leaders promoting Peace on 5th February. During the historic ceremony, FOWPAL; the United Nations institution that promoted a culture of peace throughout the world, presented a recognition of honour to the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, as one of the World Leaders for the promotion of Peace.
A certificate of honour was presented in commemoration of the ringing of the peace and love bell, and took place in the Economic and Social Council room, ECOSOC, at the UN. The event was organised by the The Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL).
At the historic ceremony, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo rang the bell for world peace three times: the first, for the Republic of Equatorial Guinea; the second, for the United nations, and the third, for the whole world.
In his reflections, the President welcomed the distinction granted him, and underlined the fact that Equatorial Guinea was focussing its national and international policy on seeking and consolidating peace, healthy coexistence, and love between peoples, through efforts which have brought the country membership on the UN Security Council, and member of the African Union Peace and Security Commission.
