On the afternoon of 21st February, the Scientific and Technological Research Council (CITGE), organised at the Equatoguinean Cultural Centre, a round table to mark Mother Tongues’ Day
The round table was attended by some director generals from ministerial departments, representatives from the University of Equatorial Guinea, the head of CICTE, and guests.
Jose Juan MaAana spoke about the Institutional Framework for Native Language; Praxedes Rabat Macambo gave a presentation on the Mother Tongue as Culture and Vehicle for Communication, and Jose Francisco Eteo on the UNESCO International Framework.
It was also possible to hear various presentations from five representatives from the Bubi, Fang, Fadanbo, Ndowe and Bisio languages, who spoke on how their mother tongues were perceived, and what values they provided.
Following these presentations, the activity concluded with questions and suggestions from those present.
