The presentation of the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in Life Sciences will begin on March 28th in the city of Sipopo (Malabo), with the presence of the Director General of UNESCO, Audrez Azoulay, together with the Head of Protocol, Michel Toto.
The winners are the Organisation for Agricultural Research (The Volcani Centre), Professor Rui Luis Goncalves Dos Reis (Portugal) and Professor Ivan Antonio Izquierdo (Brazil) who, in addition to receiving a diploma from the hands of the Director General of UNESCO, will also be presented with a statue by the deceased Equatoguinean sculptor, Leandro Mbomio Nsue, from H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
According to the programme, it is expected that the winners will give their respective speeches, in addition to words of welcome from the Mayoress of Malabo, the Director General of UNESCO, and the Head of State, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
As is well known, the aim of this prize, created in 2008 by the President of Equatorial Guinea, is a reward for the projects and activities by an individual, individuals, institutions, or other non governmental organisations of bodies dedicated to scientific research in life sciences, which lead to an improvement in the quality of human life.
