Spain welcomes the agreement between Equatorial Guinea and Gabon to go to the ICJ

Mariano Rajoy’s Executive congratulated the two countries on this decision, “in accordance with the principle of peaceful solutions to disputes”, according to a communique from the Spanish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and the Gabonese President, H. E. Ali Bongo Ondimba, signed the agreement on 15th November in connection with the disputed islands of MbaAe, Cocoteros, Conga, and common borders.

The act was witnessed by the United Nations General Secretary, Ban Ki-moon, who highlighted “the political leadership, valour and wisdom” of the Presidents of Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
