During the speech by the Minister for Education, University Teaching and Sports, given on 5th June, at the ceremony congratulating the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, on his 76th Birthday, JesA�s Engonga Ndong granted him the title of First Sportsman of the Country, appointed by the Equatorial Guinea Olympic Committee.
The Minister began his speech by declaring that the President represents effort and dedication, truth and commitment of a man who gives everything for his country.
He also said that, when a 76-year-old Head of State with a full work schedule is the first to get up in the early hours every day to do sport and look after his health, it is necessary to declare the fact out loud.
Furthermore, he recalled that on 23rd April 2017, the General Assembly of the Equatorial Guinea Olympic Committee declared him unanimously and solemnly as First Sportsman of Equatorial Guinea, and now, approximately one year later, the Minister for Education has the honour of presenting the award.
The Minister concluded his speech by presenting the sporting history of the President and the recognition received, and urged young people to do regular exercise.
