Speech by President at APPO CAPE VII Congress

During the closing of the work of the congress, the President of the Republic, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, spoke and recalled that globalisation must be directed towards a new revitalisation, and must not be content with the current dependence on economies, warning that it is necessary to plan a future with benefits for present and future generations on the African continent.

Africa must discuss the gap that prevents access for development, and all governments and companies must decide on common policies for the hydrocarbons sector, taking into account that times have changed and the continent continues to live with this dependence”, said the President of the Republic, in his speech during the closing ceremony of the APPO CAPE VII Congress.

He also referred to difficulties in creating equal cooperation and having access to advanced technologies. Taking this into account, the situation does not present a favourable panorama for Africa, he stated, and added, That is what also weakens our currencies, which cannot be valued without the production of our raw materials”.

He also pointed out that Equatorial Guinea is benefiting from resources coming from Petroleum, which have always been used by the people in the construction of infrastructures and the training if human resources, among other aspects.

This forum should not be a mere meeting that has nothing to do with the matter, but should provide a deep analysis of how to improve the responsible management of petroleum resources, for diversification in other sectors, and in order to obtain added value and benefits for African economies. We will continue to work for a better Africa”. With these words he concluded his speech.
