The next summit of the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) will take place from January 23 to 31. The meeting will be held in the Conference Center of the AU in the Ethiopian capital and will be, as is usual, the first annual meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the organization.
The preparations are underway for January 23 to start the 24th AU Summit, which will be attended by Heads of State and Government of the countries that make up the institution.
The meeting place will be the AU Conference Center and the theme of the Summit is: “Year of Women’s Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063.”
The specific dates for the meetings of the various bodies are now known; therefore, the schedule is as follows:
On January 23 and 24, the 29th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) will be held. On January 26 and 27, the 26th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council will be held in the Great Hall of the Center. Finally, on January 30 and 31, the 24th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government will be held, at the end of which the conclusions of the work carried out will be made known.
We must recall that the last AU summit was held in Equatorial Guinea in late June 2014 under the theme “Agriculture and Food Security.”
