Support for Equatorial Guinea for UN Security Council candidacy

With little time remaining before the elections, which will take place in 2nd June 2017, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, through its permanent mission before the United Nations, is continuing to make ground in the campaign for the Security Council. The campaign has been described as positive, according to diplomatic circles linked to the UN, due to the success resulting from meetings held by our country with the regional blocks making up the organisation.

Another group that has expressed its support for Equatorial Guinea is Latin America; a group that already maintains good relations with Malabo, through linguistic ties and membership of the G-77 block.

The support of these countries has been demonstrated through their embassies at the weekend, in the city of New York, during a reception provided by the Equatorial Guinea Mission before the UN.

At the meeting, the Ambassador Permanent Representative of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea before the UN, Anatolio Ndong Mba and his deputy, Victoriana Mbasogo Mangue, took advantage to reiterate their thanks to these governments, for their willingness to continue working with our country towards the peace the world needs.

Sources from the Equatoguinean mission before the UN indicated that Ndong Mba could hold a similar reception with other groups, some from the African continent.
