The Vice Minister of Information, Press and Radio, Jose Mba Obama, assisted by the Secretary of State for Hospital Assistance and Coordination, Mari Carmen Andeme Ela, inaugurated on Wednesday, January 7, the cycle of awareness talks about the Ebola hemorrhagic fever, which will take place throughout various hotels in the country. The lectures will mainly be held in Malabo, between January 7 and 13.
The Vice Minister of Information, Press and Radio, Jose Mba Obama Bendomo, assisted by the Secretary of State for Hospital Assistance and Coordination, Mari Carmen Andeme Ela, inaugurated the cycle of awareness lectures for the staff of hotel services throughout the national territory, which will lodge players and fans of the African Cup of Nations, CAN 2015, to be held in our country in the coming days.
The inauguration of the itinerary of visits to various hotels in which the talks will take place, by the representatives of the housing and health subcommittees of the Organizing Committee of the African Cup of Nations (COCAN 2015) took place at the Hotel Sofitel Malabo Sipopo Le Golf, where both national authorities noted the importance of preventing this terrible pandemic that is ravaging several countries in West Africa.
Vice Minister Mba Obama, in his speech, thanked the staff for the good treatment accorded to its clients and asked them to become aware of the importance of the work they do every day.
-“We appreciate the work and effort you are doing every day to improve the services you are providing in these establishments; for this reason we are satisfied. We ask once again for the collaboration of all of you to defend the decision of the President of the Republic, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, to host this competition,” said the Vice Minister of Information.
The Secretary of State, in turn, said Equatorial Guineans should be aware that the Ministry of Health has not created the Committee Against Ebola because of the celebration in our country of the CAN 2015; but rather that the prevention mechanisms had already been made effective before, and are spreading increasingly throughout the national territory, as well as the implementation of isolation centers.
-“Equatorial Guinea is aware of the situation that the countries infected with this hemorrhagic fever are going through; which is why it created a committee to raise awareness and fight against Ebola, and this committee began working early last year. We have deployed, throughout the national territory, staff and medical supplies to treat people with Ebola, but fortunately we still have not detected any citizen with these symptoms,” said Andeme Ela.
According to the program established by the Vice Minister’s cabinet, these lectures will be conducted by Dr. Benito Alu Equatorial Nkumu and the Cuban Vicente Hernandez Borja, both specialists in epidemiological diseases.
