S. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has returned to the country after attending the works of the 12th Conference of the Heads of State and government in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries, which ended on 18th July in Cape Verde.
Cape Verde Head of State, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, was elected President of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) for the 2018/2020 period. Under the motto: ‘People, Culture and Oceans’, the work of the 12th Conference of the Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries concluded on 18th July with a closed-door meeting of the Heads of State from member nations in the international Spanish-speaking organisation.
The attention of this communal summit focused on selecting the full member nation to hold the 13th CPLP Conference, the election of the VIP to occupy the position of Executive Secretary for the next two years, and the agenda that the new president will implement in exercising the community, in this case, the Cape Verde president. The agenda for the final day of the forum also included questions related to the effective running of the CPLP, and the final conclusions were presented after the closed-door meeting.
On their return to Malabo, the Equatorial Guinean delegation was bid farewell by civil and military authorities at Amilcar Cabral International Airport.
