The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Equatorial Guinea, Agapito Mba Mokuy, traveled to Spain to participate in a special meeting which will be held on Monday, December 22, at the headquarters of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI). The main topic of the meeting is the status of Equatorial Guinea in the OEI.
The meeting, to be held at the headquarters of the Organization of Ibero-American Countries (OEI) in Madrid, will have the its basic point of the status of Equatorial Guinea in this institution, with the main issue that Equatorial Guinea stop being an observer country.
In the meeting they will discussed the issues and objectives related to the position of Equatorial Guinea in the OEI. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Equatorial Guinea, Agapito Mba Mokuy, arrived in Madrid on Saturday, December 20, to participate in this momentous event.
Equatorial Guinea is the only country in Africa where Spanish is an official language, spoken by about 90% of the population. Equatorial Guinean institutions also have become advocates and representatives of Spanish in multinationals on the continent, such as the African Union itself. Therefore, the presence of Equatorial Guinea in the OEI is an important issue for Equatorial Guinean institutions.
