By means of an official communiqué, dated Wednesday, April 8, the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy has announced this new finding made by the company Marathon in the Blocks A-12 and Sub-area B.
The communiqué disseminated by the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy announces the discovery of hydrocarbons realized by Marathon in Block A-12 and in the sub-area B, with the perforation of the wells Sodalita Oeste and Rodo, respectively.
The Sodalita Oeste well (SDL-1) was drilled to block A-12 in the year 2014, and reached the total depth of 1377.5 m. The results indicated the presence of sand loaded with hydrocarbons. Furthermore, the registers have also confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons in the Rodo well.
The Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy considers these discoveries to be very important, in order to increase the reserves of crude oil in the country and attenuating the decrease of production of crude in Equatorial Guinea. The Minister of the Department, Gabriel Mbega Obiang Lima, declared recently, during the holding of the Conference of Diplomats in Malabo, which the productive and economic expectations of the country were positive, among other things, new discoveries were made that would be announced soon, as occurred with these made by Marathon.
