In order to welcome S.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo with all the honours prescribed by protocol, President S.E. Jorge Carlos Fonseca and his wife, Ligia Diaz Fonseca, visited Sal International Airport on 17th July. The Equatorial Guinean president is visiting the country to attend the 12th CPLP Summit.
Several delegates from member countries in the CPLP have started to make an appearance on the island of Sal to attend the 12th Head of State and Government Conference of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), which is held over 17th and 18th of this month in Cape Verde.
Among the delegates who arrived to Amilcar Cabral International Airport on the island of Sal, the arrival of the president of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea stands out, who represents a country that became a full legal member in 2014.
In order to toast the Equatorial Guinean president’s welcome, the Cape Verde counterpart, S.E. Jorge Carlos Fonseca and wife, Ligia Diaz Fonseca, visited Sal International Airport.
In addition to inspecting the troops of the Portuguese-speaking country, the Equatorial Guinean President shook hands with other VIPs who waited for his arrival such as the ambassador in Portugal and representative of the CPLP, Tito Mba Ada.
In the pavilion of honour, the heads of Cape Verde and Equatorial Guinea dedicated some minutes to discuss the summit, in addition to giving their bilateral ties a new impetus.
