On 4th July, the militants of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) commemorated the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the political grouping.
To mark the occasion, there was a thanksgiving mass in Malabo Cathedral, which began with the arrival of members of the PDGE, including the Vice-President and Honorary President of ASHO, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, and the President Founder, H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, accompanied by his wife Constancia Mangue de Obiang, Vice-President and Honorary President of the Specialist Women’s Organisation.
The Eucharistic ceremony was said by the reverend Father Benjamin Bosepa Barila, who focussed the homily on the gospel of St. Matthew, underlining the that good policies are based on faith in God.
During the mass, members of the national office, led by the General Secretary, Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro, presented various gifts.
On 4th July 1986 the PDGE was founded, in accordance with the proposal presented by the Chamber of Deputies in 1985 for the creation of a political party.
In October 1987 the PDGE grouping was made public, It was overseen by H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, after being elected President Founder during the first congress in 1988.
