Under the banner “regional and continental integration for development”, the conference, which is to be held from 3rd to 5th December, will aim to find innovative solutions to the obstacles hindering regional and continental integration in Africa.
Organised jointly by the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the conference in Kigali (Rwanda), which will bring together researchers, political leaders and development professionals, will be an opportunity to debate, examine and seek solutions to continental integration.
The 2018 edition intends to raise the management of knowledge as a significant promoter of dialogue on policy, promoting the exchange of ideas and innovative thought between researchers, development professionals and political leaders.
The conference will also provide young African researchers, the African diaspora, and regional and subregional organisations the opportunity to publicise the results of their research and share information with African political leaders on the work being done in the region.
The 2017 conference, held in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, from 4th to 6th December, with around 400 delegations in attendance, focussed its debate on how African countries could achieve structural transformation through governance.
