The People and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela express their most energetic rejection of the attempted State Coup against the Government of Equatorial Guinea, carried out by a group of mercenaries, which was thwarted on the border with the Republic of Cameroon, during the celebration of the December festivities 2017.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirms its commitment of solidarity with our African brothers based on respect for sovereignty and the rejection of violent actions which seek to create instability in the Central Africa region. We hope the efforts of the African countries and the international community will focus on seeking peaceful solutions through mutual respect, agreement and solidarity based on peace and social justice, condemning any destabilising attempt which undermines the well-being of the region.
