Vice-President of Republic attends military manoeuvres in Continental Region

On arrival at the people’s council of Mesama EsabeA, located 50 kilometres from Ebibeyin, H. E. Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue was received with military honours in the presence of military authorities and the general public from the area.

Later, and after shaking hands with military authorities, the head of the portfolios of Defence and Security was present during the military manoeuvres.

They comprised of a tactical exercise to repel an enemy attack against the position of the battalion and capture enemy combatants.

In his short speech the executive from the Malabo Government called for the protection of national sovereignty.

One of the ways to achieve efficiency in our work is to collaborate closely and in harmony with the people we are protecting”, said H. E. Teodoro Nguema Obiang, when addressing the contingent.

The periodical training exercises carried out by the Equatorial Guinea Armed Forces aim to maintain the military in perfect condition to protect the population and effectively counter any terrorist threat.

During his stay in the people’s council of Mesama EsabeA, in addition to thanking the population for the good hospitality, Nguema Obiang Mangue also told them to remain ever vigilant, and report any suspicious act that could undermine the peace in the country.

We are here to protect the inhabitants and defend our sovereignty, and for that reason we must remain active, alert and ready”, he added.

On the same day, the Vice-President visited the first battalion located in the municipality of Bidjabijan, with the same aim. There, the Head of Defence and Security congratulated the troops on the exercises, and later urged the uniformed corps to handle the exercises with serenity, as they allow our borders to be protected.
