On the morning of Tuesday 20th November, the Vice-President of the Republic, Charged with National Defence and State Security, H. E. Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, received the diplomat from the Asian country. Among other matters, the two looked at the possibility of strengthening cooperation in the military sector.
Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue spoke to the accredited Chinese Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, Chen Guoyou, at the People’s Place in Malabo, regarding the strengthening of bilateral relations in the military sector.
Malabo and Beijing want to strengthen cooperation in the military sector, with a greater emphasis on military training. This desire was expressed by the accredited Chinese Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, in the audience he was granted by the Vice-President of the Republic.
According to the Chinese diplomat, the sectors in which the two Governments cooperate have seen great progress in recent years; for that reason they also want to implement other agreements signed at the latest China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC), head in the Asian giant in September.
This proposal was well received by H. E. Nguema Obiang Mangue, who declared the interest of the Equatoguinean Government in cooperating with China, prioritising projects that have an impact on the creation of jobs, economic diversification, and which stimulate national private initiative. It is worth pointing out that, in addition to the military sector, Malabo and Beijing also cooperate in other sectors such as education, health, trade and construction.
Furthermore, this meeting was an occasion for the Chinese diplomat to congratulate the people of Equatorial Guinea on the successful celebration of the 50th Anniversary of National Independence, on 12th October.
