The militants of the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) Luba, the second largest city of the island of Bioko, received on Wednesday, April 15, the visit of the Secretary General of the PDGE, Jeronimo Osa Osa Ecoro, and the newly appointed Jesusa Obono Engono Nchama and Fortunato Ofa Mbo, on their presentation tour as the new deputy secretaries general. The tour serves the dual purpose of informing on the needs of each district, and proceeding to pay the incentives for members of the cell base.
The president of the District Council of Luba, Manuel Señaba Silochi Jones, on behalf of the members and officers of this council and municipal councils, as well as the Specialized Women’s Organization, the Youth Federation of the PDGE, the Antorcha Group and ASHO (Sons of Obiang Association), welcomed the Secretary General and his entourage. He then proceeded to read the report on political developments in the district of Luba.
In addition to affirming the commitment of local militants of the PDGE to the party line, he stressed that they all value the humanitarian spirit of the Founding President, H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who he described as a great leader. Following his speech, he said that the district of Luba lives in peace thanks to the policy of the Head of State, and assessed the changes that the Government of the PDGE is carrying out the country stating that “the militants, who I have the honor of representing, made me responsible of reaffirming our commitment for the preservation of peace, national unity, and healthy coexistence, justice and our vigilance against enemies who want to put an end to the peace prevailing in Equatorial Guinea. We condemn any institutional or individual act that attempts to undermine our social peace or create a national separation.”
Osa Osa Ecoro, meanwhile, began his speech by presenting his deputies, and continued announcing that this tour is not a political campaign, but a nationwide tour to meet with the party structures. He also transmitted to the militants of Luba the congratulations from the Founding President, for their active participation during the last African Cup of Nations.
In his speech, the Secretary General insisted on maintaining and consolidating the actions of the party: “We came with words from the heart, to share the reality with our membership. We want our message to reach everyone.”
On the economic situation in Equatorial Guinea, Osa Osa has said that despite the crisis being faced by oil-producing countries, our nation has taken advantage of its resources to construct basic infrastructures, and continues to grow despite the crisis.
-“H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo has never stopped looking for solutions for our country to reach the level of development it currently has as a leading country in Africa,” he said; and added that the drop in oil prices is an international situation and yet the current Government policy is aimed at diversifying the economy. He concluded his speech by appealing to the development of agriculture, to reduce dependence on basic necessities.
