Work begins at V African Union Retreat

The work at the V retreat for the Committee of Permanent Representatives and the African Union Commission began on Thursday 12th October, at the AU headquarters in Addis Abeba (Ethiopia). Our country was represented by the accredited ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the Permanent Mission before the African Union and the CEA, Simeon Oyono Esono.

The plan for the agenda basically covers the analysis of projects for working documents from the V African Union – European Union Summit, planned for November in Abiyan (Ivory Coast), with the intention of investing in youth for solid growth and development, strengthening actions to resolve the stagnation in the execution of AU programmes, and the establishment of a route map which will allow the evaluation of the level of progress for projects and programmes under Agenda 2063.

During the summit in November in Abiyan, the adoption of priority projects between the AU and the EU for the 2018-2022 period is also expected, including strategic projects on how to invest in the population for the development of expertise aimed at stability, peace and security, together with the mobilisation of investment in favour of the structural transformation of Africa.
