Working session for Secretary of State for Forests

The Secretary of State from the Ministry for Forests and the Environment, Santiago Francisco Engonga Esono, accompanied by the Representative from the United Nations for Food and Agriculture, Olman Serrano, oversaw the opening of a working session to analyse the preliminary report on the causes and tendencies in deforestation and soil degradation, within the framework of the process to establish neutrality in soil degradation in Equatorial Guinea.

The seminar workshop was held within the framework of the commitments that Equatorial Guinea has assumed on an international level and the United Nations convention on the fight against drought, under which countries must define specific actions towards neutralising the degradation of the environment.

Within the framework of the Convention on the Fight against Desertification in regards to reaching the proposed objectives, countries must first identify the causes of degradation for the land, and then define their objectives.
