Agro-Pastoral and Fisheries Offensive in Sanguie Sees Positive Results in Didyr

Ouagadougou: The High Commissioner of the province of Sanguie, Talari Germain Ouoba, conducted a visit to several agricultural sites in the commune of Didyr as part of the oversight of the 2025 wet agro-pastoral and fishing campaign. Accompanied by the Prefect/PDS of Didyr, Abdoulaye Yaogo, as well as provincial directors and defense and security forces, the visit aimed to evaluate progress on the ground.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the high commissioner was welcomed by the provincial director in charge of agriculture of Sanguie, Toukoumnogo Salome Ouedraogo. The visit highlighted the achievements of producers like Bazomboue Badolo, a model producer who cultivated 6 hectares of sorghum in the village of Ladiana. The provincial director of agriculture expressed satisfaction with the techniques applied, noting the critical role of technical monitoring and supervision in enhancing productivity.

The visit also included a demonstration plot on corn managed by a Pinon-gnin women’s cooperative. The cooperative’s secretary expressed gratitude to the high commissioner for her support and underscored the significant impact of technical advice on improving yields. The high commissioner commended the producers’ dedication and emphasized the government’s role in facilitating access to fertilizers and seeds to bolster food sovereignty. She also lauded the women’s cooperatives for their exemplary commitment and success.

The provincial director of agriculture highlighted the importance of cooperative organization and assured continuous support from MARAH. He mentioned that the State, through SONAGESS, will purchase surplus production at the end of the wet season to establish a safety stock, preventing poor sales. The visit extended to other sites, notably in Pouni-Nord, where producers showcased consistent efforts in rice cultivation on 51 hectares. The high commissioner encouraged continued dedication to meet the production targets set by the 2025 agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive in Sanguie province.

The High Commissioner concluded the visit by congratulating all producers and urging them to persevere, assuring them of the government’s and technical services’ support.
