Ouagadougou: The Africa Vision and Sustainable Development (AVDD) movement’s maracana tournament reached its climax on Sunday, October 6, 2025, with Douaoude’s victory on penalties against Aviator. “We believe that social cohesion and living together are the foundation of any prosperous nation. Without unity, without solidarity, there is no lasting peace,” said Abdoulaye Compaore, promoter of the AVDD movement’s Maracana tournament.
According to Burkina Information Agency, nothing is possible without social cohesion and unity between populations. Mr. Compaore spoke on Sunday, October 6, 2025, during the final of the tournament organized in the 10th district of Ouagadougou. The apotheosis of the competition pitted Douaoude against Aviator, a fiercely contested match which ended with Douaoude winning on penalties.
The tournament promoter, while paying tribute to the Defense and Security Forces, invited young people to cultivate solidarity and patriotism. The victorious Douaoude team received the trophy, the s
um of 100,000 CFA francs, sets of jerseys, balls, and many other prizes. Aviator, the unfortunate finalist, took home 75,000 CFA francs, a set of jerseys, and balls. Special prizes were also awarded.
Hubert Zoungrana, representing the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, praised the youth mobilization: “We found a valiant, dynamic and mobilized youth around comrade Captain Ibrahim Traore, a sporty youth who delivered a pleasant match,” he noted. Beyond this sporting competition, the members of the association demonstrated solidarity by providing food to the elderly and school kits to disadvantaged children. Internally displaced women also benefited from training in income-generating activities.
