By Charity Nginyu Bambui, located in the conflict-ridden Northwest region of Cameroon, witnessed a deadly attack that claimed the lives of two government forces and two civilians. The incident reports have it occurred near CHS Bambui in Tubah Subdivision, Mezam Division, on the evening of May 14, 2024. According to sources, the two government forces, who were in civilian attire, were unwinding at a local bar near CHS. As they prepared to leave around 8 pm, the bar owner offered them a ride on his motorbike. However, their departure was abruptly halted when gunmen, suspected to be separatists, ambushed them and opened fire. Tragically, both government forces and the bar owner succumbed to their injuries on the spot. Additionally, a stray bullet struck a woman and her daughter who were nearby. The woman, who was reportedly conducting a mobile money transaction with her 26-year-old daughter, tragically lost her life at the scene. Her daughter sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby health facility. This comes a few days after an attack by separatist fighters that claimed the lives of a brigade commander and some government forces between Mamfe and Eyomujock in the Manyu division, Southwest region of Cameroon.
