Burkina Faso Reaffirms Commitment to National Development During JEPPC Phase II

Koudougou: The Koudougou governorate square was the venue for the launch ceremony of the second fortnight of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC) on Thursday. The event was presided over by the governor of the Nando region, Adama Jean Yves Bere, and featured the raising of the national colors.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Governor Bere read a message from the Head of State, who praised the growing patriotic spirit among Burkinabe citizens. The President emphasized the role of each citizen as a guardian of the nation’s ideals, which include building a sovereign and prosperous nation. He acknowledged the citizens’ support for national initiatives like the Patriotic Support Fund and recognized the first group to undergo patriotic immersion. The President’s message for the second phase of the JEPPC focused on protecting public property and combating corruption and racketeering.

The President highlighted the need for discipline and order in maintaining public property, stating that damage to public assets is a betrayal of the country’s revolutionary values. On the issue of corruption, he declared that those who engage in extortion or embezzlement are enemies of the nation. He called for mobilization against illicit enrichment and urged regulatory bodies to make complaint mechanisms accessible.

Leon Yaknaba, the regional director in charge of human rights, thanked participants for their involvement and outlined the schedule of upcoming activities. The fortnight includes educational and civic events, with school conferences from October 6 to 16 in various high schools across the region, including locations such as Leo, Sapouy, To, Bougnounou, Kyon, and Koudougou.

Additionally, two thematic panels focusing on JEPPC and the role of economic actors will be held at the Koudougou main market and bus station on October 8 and 9. A sanitation day is planned for October 11 to maintain regional service courtyards, emphasizing cleanliness and order.

This second phase of the JEPPC aims to raise awareness, strengthen discipline, and reinforce the commitment of Burkinabe citizens to create a more equitable and prosperous country.
