Nairobi: The 79th anniversary of India's Independence Day was celebrated today, Friday, in Nairobi with cultural performances. This was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony to honor the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers at the War Memorial Cemetery. During the ceremony that was held at the India House in Nairobi, Acting High Commissioner to India Shri Sushil Prasad highlighted the historical ties between India and Kenya, emphasizing their close cooperation in regional and multilateral forums.

According to Kenya News Agency, the Acting High Commissioner stated, "Our developmental journey in Kenya has further seen the growth of India and the transformation that is not limited to just economic growth but includes people's empowerment." He noted that the two countries' cordial relationship is strengthened annually through cultural events, and acknowledged the integration of Indian and Kenyan cultures into society.
