Dano: Retired journalist Ferdinand Dabir©, who passed away in Ouagadougou on Thursday, July 3, 2025, was posthumously made an Officer of the Order of the Stallion on Saturday, July 5, in Dano by the Burkinabe State.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the late Dabir© Ferdinand, the first editor at Sidwaya, was posthumously promoted to the rank of Officer of the Order of the Stallion. The High Commissioner of Ioba Province, Innocents Ouattara, presided over the decoration ceremony in Dano, the deceased's hometown. The event was attended by former students, relatives, friends, and provincial administrative authorities and the Ministry of Communication.
The State recognized Dabir©'s contributions, particularly his role in designing the national flag of Burkina Faso during the revolution of Captain Thomas Sankara. A trained journalist, he also served as a trainer at the Professional Information Training Center, now known as the Institute of Information and Communication Sciences and Technology.
Ferdinand Dabir© was the first regional communications director for the Southwest, and upon retirement, he settled in Bagane in sector 3 of Dano. After months of illness, Dabir© passed away in Ouagadougou. He was laid to rest in his hometown of Bagane, where he was born. He leaves behind a wife and four children.
