The West African Elders Forum (WAEF), has commenced a two-day strategy meeting to assess the sociopolitical developments within the sub-region. The forum of eminent persons, led by former President Goodluck Jonathan, would also propose strategies for mitigating threats to peace and stability within the region. The WAEF is made up of the foremost elder statesmen and women as well as opinion leaders in West Africa. It was established to serve as a platform to provide mediation, conflict resolution, including election-related conflict, and promoting democracy, peace, and security in the sub-region.
