Bobo-dioulasso: The Nando Regional Council successfully conducted a training session from September 22 to 24, 2025, focusing on marketing and territorial attractiveness to empower communities within the region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative aimed to enhance the capabilities of local stakeholders, thereby boosting the development and attractiveness of their territories. The primary goal was to fortify the participants' skills in leveraging territorial marketing and attractiveness strategies.
Territorial marketing is regarded as a vital tool for enhancing the appeal of regions. It involves mastering image management, engaging local stakeholders, and executing well-targeted and coherent communication strategies.
Over the three-day session, participants were introduced to key concepts including territorial marketing, branding, competitiveness, and identity. The modules addressed challenges and strategies in territorial marketing, assessing territorial attractiveness, and developing effective communication strategies. Group activities connected theoretical insights with practical application.
According to Adama Jean Yves Bere, president of the regional special delegation, the initiative is crucial for equipping participants with skills necessary to implement effective marketing strategies. "The objective is twofold: to improve the image of local authorities and, consequently, to attract investors and partners," he stated.
Participants expressed satisfaction with the training, noting that they acquired valuable tools to enhance and promote their communities more effectively.
This training is part of a broader capacity-building effort and plays a significant role in implementing the Economic Development and Territorial Coherence Strategy (SDELCOT). The Swiss Cooperation, through the Support Unit for Decentralization and Citizen Participation (CADEPAC), funds this initiative.
