Saaba Municipal High School Students Contribute to Faso Mebo Initiative

Ouagadougou: The immersed individuals from the Saaba municipal high school demonstrated an act of patriotism by donating half a ton of cement, 15 packets of water, packets of coffee and tea, 5 shovels, 10 trowels, and 10 pairs of gloves to the presidential initiative, Faso Mebo, on Friday, September 26.

According to Burkina Information Agency, before making this donation, the students visited the Thomas Sankara memorial. It is the resting place of the captain and his twelve companions, who were assassinated on October 15, 1987. During their visit, they explored his office and revisited the history of his contributions toward patriotism, solidarity, and civic-mindedness.

"After this visit, we vowed to always keep in mind the patriotic and united spirit desired by Captain Sankara," stated Bama Esae Yitien, the delegate in charge of the boys. Yitien emphasized that their support for Faso Mebo reflects their commitment to contributing to the prosperity of Burkina Faso. "This is the land our parents left us. For it to develop, we, the children of this country, must rise up to build it," he added.

Mambone Zeinab, the delegate in charge of girls, expressed that their actions were driven by a deep love for their nation and a spirit of patriotism. "We want to show that what we learned during the immersion will not go to waste," she said. Zeinab also urged the youth of Burkina Faso to mobilize and support Faso Mebo, an initiative led by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore.

After the symbolic handover, the students actively participated in construction work, including the manufacture and laying of paving stones, to reinforce their commitment to national development.
