Amenfi Central NDC Parliamentary Candidate to organise health screening for students


Mrs Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Amenfi Central, is set to organise a health screening exercise to help improve upon the well-being of students within the Constituency.

The week-long initiative, scheduled to begin from Tuesday, October 15 to Sunday, October 20, 2024, is aimed at addressing health issues such as malaria, menstrual hygiene, and general well-being through the distribution of treated mosquito nets, sanitary pads, and health screening services.

It would be held in communities like Amuni, Kwamang, Ayiem, Kwakuboa, Agona Amenfi and Ajakaa Manso.L

Mrs Cudjoe in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said as part of the initiative, her team would distribute 10,000 treated mosquito nets to help guard the students against malaria.

She said they would provide 10,000 sanitary pads to help improve menstrual hygiene for female students.

She said: ‘This critical aspect of health care often goes overlooked and we aim to alleviate the challen
ges faced by young women during their menstrual cycles, allowing them to attend school without disruptions.’

Mrs Cudjoe stated that the initiative would also include comprehensive health services, such as breast cancer screenings, laboratory tests, drug distribution, and blood tests among other services.

‘By offering these services free of charge, we hope to enhance health awareness and encourage early detection of diseases among students,’ she added.

She said investing in students’ health was essential for their academic success and overall well-being, saying ‘This initiative is not just about distributing resources; it’s about empowering the youth in Amenfi Central to take charge of their health and future.’

‘The health activities will undoubtedly benefit the students and significantly raise awareness about essential health issues within the constituency,’ the Parliamentary Candidate added.

Mrs Cudjoe asked the constituents to take advantage of the opportunity and participate in the health screenings a
nd services offered.
